Lightweight Backpacking After 60 in the Rogue Valley

Canyon Creek, Jun 11-14, 2015

Hikers: Maria, Steve, George, Carol, Jill

This is a popular, early season trip that we’ve done numerous years: 2014, 2013, 2011

Day 1: due to high temps, we camped 0:25 south of Boulder Creek Lake trail junction (last year camped at junction)

Day 2: day hiked to Lower and Upper Canyon Lakes; George fly fished

Day 3: day hiked to/swam at Boulder Creek Lakes; Maria & Steve side trip to Forbidden Lakes

Day 4: hiked out; lunch in Weaverville at Stagecoach Pizzeria & Cafe, which we recommend (our previous favorite place, La Grange Cafe, is now closed)

      hi Matt,

we don’t have a strict age limit. if you’re retired or have a flexible work schedule, you could probably join our mostly mid-week trips (we generally try to avoid weekend crowds). our pace is generally leisurely 1.5-2 mi. hr; more ambitious hikers might want a different, faster group.

    Hi folks,

    Love your trip reports.

I live in Klamath Falls now but when I was younger I lived west of Redding in French Gulch. Hiked all over the Trinity Alps in the late 70’s to early 90’s. Your last trip really brought back the memories. Would love to meet you on the trail one day.

    Thanks,

    Dave
